Kim was born and raised in the York, PA area and has lived there his entire life. He grew up in a small town with a population of 200 people, where Southern Gospel Music was broadcast over loud speakers from the local church. Raised in a Christian home, Kim accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 6.

After high school, Kim attended York College of PA and graduated with an accounting and business administration degree. While there, he played baseball for York College Spartans and has remained active in sports over the years. After college and several jobs along the way, he was self employed until 2020 and now works in the Emergency Department at York Hospital.

Kim comes from a musically talented family. His dad played clarinet and saxophone; his Mom plays organ and piano and his only brother is an accomplished classical pianist. Kim started singing at the age of 3 on a local Christian radio station and continued with music during his growing up years. He has always enjoyed 4 part southern gospel harmonies and started singing with Keystone State Quartet in 2009.

Kim is married to Tanya, and they have two children. Their son Tyler, and his wife, Jocelyn, are the parents of Trent. Kelsey is their daughter. They all live in York. Lucky, their golden doodle, completes the Abel family. Kim and his family attends the Church of the Open Door in York, PA.  Kim sings the Lead/Tenor part for KSQ.
