Dan Mickey, Keystone State Quartet’s long-time bass singer, first started singing in the church choir and in school chorus.   Dan always enjoyed hymns from the “red-back hymnal”, as well as country music and popular music.  As a youth, when singing along with the popular songs, he noticed that he always had to sing the melody an octave below the radio, unless he sang the bass harmony! – which he then did for over 40 years in the First Christian Church choir.

Dan had always been a fan of The Cathedral’s Quartet and The Inspirations.  It was while attending an Inspirations concert with long-time southern gospel fan, Pastor John Barchey, that Dan decided to audition for an on-the-road quartet.

Dan first sang with March Forth Quartet from Mechanicsburg.  Dan has been singing with Keystone State Quartet since 2006.  It has been his great pleasure to sing and minister with Jim, Julie and Kim and now, Tom.

Dan is so thankful to his parents, Dean (Doc) and late mother, Jane Mickey, for a Christian upbringing and their love and support of his music ministry.  Dan makes his home in Somerset, PA and is married to Judi.  They have two sons, Danny, married to Katelynn, and Jack.  A Jack Russell Terrier, named Maggie, completes the family.  Dan extends his thanks to his family for all the love and support that they provide.
